It's March already

It's March 2nd here. We are on our 3rd month in China. Where has time gone?

Thinking back to the States, we've missed two nephews (Sam and Keegan) birthdays.

We do miss our family back home. We are building a nice expat family here too. Soon we will learn how to use China Post and be able to send stuff back. Remember, the Chinese don't believe in cards! Money cards yes, birthday cards no.

It's starting to warm up! A sign Spring is coming is the Plum blossoms. Hongmei park was beautiful.

ESL teaching is not the career or job path we envisioned after college. We never wanted to be teachers. Teachers in America are devalued. Holiday Time!

Hello! Can you believe it's the end of 2018. 11 months have come and gone. 2019 is on the horizon. I love this time of year. There is Christmas and New Year's and all the hopes for a wonderful 12 more months. Christmas for us has changed from big family celebrations with white elephant gift exchange to teaching and playing with kids. The Shane Christmas show this year is slightly different. We had to come up with themes and plays or dances for the kids to perform. I'm sure they will be awesome. It makes for the month to go quick. Boredom is setting in. The weather has been rainy and chilly in Changzhou. So less outside time for us. We teach long weekend hours. In fact, we are the Senior Teachers with the most classes. Go figure, right? Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

Hello, We are on day 3 of vacation in Kota Kinabalu. First, we've been to Malaysia before. We went to Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi last year. That was a great trip so we decided to see the other side of Malaysia. The beaches are great. The water is clear blue. Of course, the resort is great.  Especially,  for the amount we paid for it. We've been posting photos on Wechat and Facebook, so if you are interested in those, check out those social media pages. It's off tourist season since Spring Festival is around the corner. So, it means not a lot of people. It's also jellyfish season so not a lot of people swimming in the beaches. Overall, for us, a great time to go. We walked through KK waterfront and city centre. We've seen Gaya and Sapi islands. We've seen monkeys and lizards. Even a jellyfish. Today we are going to the wildlife park to see the pygmy elephants.  Excited for this! Are they really super small? Or just like baby elephants that don't grow up?...
