Qing Feng Park

Image
Hello friends, family members, and passerby’s! We got the chance to do a marketing event in Qing Feng Park. It was an hour by bus from our apartment, but it was such a pretty park. You could rent bicycles, rent boats, fly kites in the grass, and even put your toes in the sand. Don’t go overboard, it’s a fake beach. We taught some colors and animals to groups of kids. Some too shy to even look at us. And others with good enough English to ask where we were from and what we were doing. It was a long day. Especially after the 25k the day before. Here’s some pictures. Enjoy. #krisandMatt #changzhouchina #qingfengpark #shaneenglishschool

Realization- Oct 2017

Hello friends and family! Hello to those who accidentally stumbled upon our blog. It's October. We've been in China for 10 months. Our year long contract is coming to an end. We still haven't finalized the 'what's next' yet. But, one thing is certain, life is short. Being so far away from everything really; family, life long friends, where we grew up, old jobs, old co-workers. Reading their Facebook posts, blogs, news feeds, etc. it has made us realize that life is short. You never know when something bad will happen. When a shooter will show up in a movie theater or outdoor concert. You never know when there's a tragic car accident or hiking accident. You never know when period. That's the beauty in life, right? Live it without regrets. Live it fearless and happy. Take life by the horns. Be who you want to be. Because you never know when it's your last chance. I know, it's a little but of a blue post. But, it saddened me reading all these...

Mid-Autumn Festival

Image
Hola! Ni Hao! It’s the start of a holiday in China. Some places were already closed and the buses were not as busy. It has been a cool rainy day here in Changzhou. Personally, we like the Fall weather feeling. This summer was so yucky. Way too humid and muggy. Today was a gym and movie day. We enjoy days like this. Hopefully, you enjoyed your day today too.

What's next?

Hello friends and family! And of course, any readers who have just stumbled upon our blog. It's the end of July. We had a wonderful time in Malaysia. It was a great vacation.  Highlights: ate western food, spoke english to people, rode an elephant,  saw Monkeys, went swimming in the salty ocean! At Shane, we have 2 more weeks of phonics intensives, plus our regular classes. This means we will work Tues-Sun with minimal time off. It is about 27 hours a week plus lesson planning time additional. There won't be much time to blog or do much else but sleep and eat and work. Being in China now for almost 8 months, it's been a relatively positive experience. Like anything in life, you have your ups and downs, pluses and minuses. We are choosing to think of the positives. We started our talks about what's next. So what is next???? I said we started our talks, not that we decided on anything. hahah. There are a lot of options. The world is our oyster! What's next for v...

Mangrove Tour Langkawi Island

Image
The mangrove tour was a lot of fun. We are glad we did it. We were picked up at our resort and driven to the boat docks. Taking a speedboat to the floating fish farm. It was so peaceful in the water. The huge rock formations and weird trees....ahh the wonder of nature. We kayaked through the mangrove for about 2 hours. We even planted a baby mangrove tree. Giving back to nature. We went to caves and saw bats and monkeys as well on this trip. The monkeys were so close. They took chips out of people's hands. Amazing! It was a little pricey at 440 RM (malaysian money). But, we believe it was worth it. Hope you enjoy the photos!

Vacation Time

In about 7 hours, we will be heading to the airport for Malaysia. We are super excited to visit kuala lumpur and langkawi. 6 days of fun, sun, and beaches! The best part is......no work! Check back soon for updates!

Middle of July already

Wow! It is July 11th already. This month is flying by. Well, and year.  July  2017. Wow! We are working phonics intensives during the the summer at Shane English School. This means we are working 3 days more than normal (average). What's helping us get through is our upcoming vacation. Monday July 17th we will be flying to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. We will spend a day there, and then fly to Langkawi island to spend the bulk of vacation. I can't wait for the ocean, sand and water sports! Of course, there's the cable cars in Langkawi and all the interesting Malaysian food. Check back at the end of the month for our blog about our first Malaysian vacation and of course awesome photos. Thank you to our friends and family. Your love and support is appreciated.
