What's next?

Hello friends and family! And of course, any readers who have just stumbled upon our blog. It's the end of July. We had a wonderful time in Malaysia. It was a great vacation.  Highlights: ate western food, spoke english to people, rode an elephant,  saw Monkeys, went swimming in the salty ocean! At Shane, we have 2 more weeks of phonics intensives, plus our regular classes. This means we will work Tues-Sun with minimal time off. It is about 27 hours a week plus lesson planning time additional. There won't be much time to blog or do much else but sleep and eat and work. Being in China now for almost 8 months, it's been a relatively positive experience. Like anything in life, you have your ups and downs, pluses and minuses. We are choosing to think of the positives. We started our talks about what's next. So what is next???? I said we started our talks, not that we decided on anything. hahah. There are a lot of options. The world is our oyster! Mangrove Tour Langkawi Island

Image
The mangrove tour was a lot of fun. We are glad we did it. We were picked up at our resort and driven to the boat docks. Taking a speedboat to the floating fish farm. It was so peaceful in the water. The huge rock formations and weird trees....ahh the wonder of nature. We kayaked through the mangrove for about 2 hours. We even planted a baby mangrove tree. Giving back to nature. We went to caves and saw bats and monkeys as well on this trip. The monkeys were so close. They took chips out of people's hands. Amazing! It was a little pricey at 440 RM (malaysian money). But, we believe it was worth it. Hope you enjoy the photos!

Malaysia Trip Continued, July 2017

Continuing our Malaysian adventure story.... Day 4- Oriental Village and Cable Cars day. This was on Matt's bucket list. Surprise right? The view from the cars and platforms is really amazing. Our Facebook page has like 50 or so pictures from it. The village has other things to do as well. One of Kristin's highlights was Bunny Zone. An area full of rabbits. Tame ones you can pick up. The 3d Art place is a great picture stop area. Of course, after spending a good 5 hours at Oriental Village,  we came back to the resort and went swimming. The blue skies and water is amazing.  Tasting the salt water not so much. We could handle teaching somewhere near the beach for sure! Day 5- Mangrove Tour with Kayaking.  Can you guess who picked this tour? Bingo! Kristin.

Malaysia Trip Day 1-3, July 2017

Hello! One sentence about our trip: We loved it! Monday July 17- Travel day.  We flew from Changzhou Airport to Shenzen then to Kuala Lumpur.  Our first flight was delayed which sucked.  Chanhzhou is not an airport you can have fun in.  However, they did feed us a free lunch. The 3 hour flight to Shenzen included an airline meal too. That was probably the highlight of travel day. Getting into Kuala Lumpur at 9p meant there wasn't much for us to do. After all, our bedtime is 10-11p. The taxi queue is an interesting idea in Malaysia.  We did quickly realized Uber is way cheaper though. We stayed at Orange Hotel in Kota Warison which is about 15-20 min from the airport. It was only a 2 star hotel with no window in our room, but the AC worked great! Day 2- Touring Kuala Lumpur day. It was so hot outside! But, most places did have the AC on artic which was refreshing. The Malaysians know how to use the AC compared to Chinese. We went to Central Market and Petali...

Middle of July already

Wow! It is July 11th already. This month is flying by. Well, and year.  July  2017. Wow! We are working phonics intensives during the the summer at Shane English School. This means we are working 3 days more than normal (average). What's helping us get through is our upcoming vacation. Monday July 17th we will be flying to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. We will spend a day there, and then fly to Langkawi island to spend the bulk of vacation. I can't wait for the ocean, sand and water sports! Of course, there's the cable cars in Langkawi and all the interesting Malaysian food. Check back at the end of the month for our blog about our first Malaysian vacation and of course awesome photos. Thank you to our friends and family. Your love and support is appreciated.
