End of August 2017

Hello! It's almost September, 2017. The weather still feels like summer is in full swing. However, I suppose, that's another blog post. We've recently had the pleasure of Skyping with family. It was great seeing and talking with them, but also a little sad. Guess you could say bittersweet. While we are off living a dream  (not really, but sounds cool right?!), our friends and family are living their lives. Our parents, sisters, brothers,  nieces and nephews are all growing up. We are missing birthdays' and picnics and family vacations. And in the case of Kate, an Ireland wedding! Yes, our pros and cons list does include a line item family. And only one header has it for a pro. We have so much more we want to see and do. Kristin worked with global companies in a corporate job where the struggles to the climb the ladder were real. Matt working in small family owned shops and teaching fitness had wanted to experience something big. See the world. Meet new people. Expe...

TEFL - China

Image
If you have been following our blog, you will realize that being a foreigner in China is not a breeze. But, what makes it all worth it is seeing these kids! Teaching English is relatively easy but mentally taxing. Look at these smiling faces; doesn't your heart just melt?

Thank you party at Ok Koalas

Hello friends and family! With our month long intensives completed, we celebrated at an Australian bar, Ok Koalas, in the Xinbei district. For those of you familiar with Changzhou, it's near Wanda plaza. The owner, Craig, is an Aussie and does a good job of reminding us that we are true Westerner's. Hahaha! Oh how we missed the fried foods and good dressings. We had onion rings, chicken nuggets, salad, pasta and pizza. Ranch dressing, thousand island and caeser. We were in heaven! Thank you Craig for a great night. Thank you fellow teachers for your friendship. Enjoy the pictures.

Round 2: Summer Phonics Camps Done!

And that's a wrap... Our second set of summer camp intensives are over. Thank goodness! Having 30 contact/teaching hours in a week is hard work! Having only 1 day off in a week is hard work. Not getting paid extra for the extra effort and lesson planning is a little disheartening.  Our contract allows for 100/mo. When they give you a week off between the 2 week sets, it isn't 100/mo. The bright side- the kids! I do believe kids can be anything they want to be. They are such sponges. With enough patience,  practice and time, well, they can learn anything. Hope you enjoy these pictures.

So tired...

Hello friends and family! It's the middle of August. We are finishing up round 2 of summer camp intensives. With around 30 contact hours and lesson planning and prep hours on top of that, we are tired! There aren't any new developments in the what's next question. We haven't had much time to sit down and plan. Wouldn't life be so much easier if money grew on trees? You better believe I'd be a monkey! Haha. There's so much we want to do. So many places we want to visit. How are you doing? Are you doing what you love? Are you helping grow your passion and knowledge of what matters to you. We hope so! Until next time...
